Distinguished Gentleman's Ride 2023
21-05-2023 in Amsterdam at Just Brands it all happened.
Since we were coming from Groningen with our bus, it was pissing early that day.
Punctually at 8am we drove onto the grounds! We were welcomed by the guys from Vanguard on the beautiful Moto Guzzi Custom bikes.
Ron Betist who as usual looks after this wonderful event to perfection was already there to welcome us.
The three of us set up our stand, got in a quick multi vitamin, consumed currant buns and then the area started to fill up. Perfect timing..... One cool bike after another arrived, everyone lined up in front of the Just Brands building on the car park.
Our bus was at the entrance because we were going to pick up stranded bikers as a broom truck. Our plan was that we would ride behind the procession with our bus equipped for this purpose.
In the end, there were more than 350 motorbikes and riders on the grounds. Everyone could get coffee from the lovely ladies of Caffe Racers at the ''time for a cup of coffee'' stand, they had brought a Ural.... Super nicely done! Eizenganger was there with super cool custom gloves. We ourselves had brought all MCU brand, caps, shirts, handkerchiefs, umbrellas and motorbike inner covers. We transferred all our proceeds from the day to charity. With this, we raised a nice amount and did our bit.
Once all motorcyclists were parked, they could look around the stands, listen to the music of the band and DJ, have a cup of coffee and admire each other's bikes. The atmosphere was great, everyone in a great mood partly because of the beautiful weather.
Our friend Benny Heylen of the great website and facebook group Ride Just Ride was there again! Always fun.....
Each rider was able to briefly cross the familiar stage on arrival for a cool bike pic........ After the welcome chat, we started riding and criss-crossed Amsterdam..... Snapping and roaring. After about 20 minutes, a couple broke down along the highway, so we put the bus behind them. Bike in and taken away.... Neatly dropped off at the starting point, they were super grateful. Then picked up a motorcyclist with a flat battery in Old South, super nicely rebuilt BMW R80. Back to the starting point by bus and the rest of the afternoon no incidents thankfully!
After the band played out, most of the riders went home, we cleared the stand and went riding as well.
Great for the stew at home! No MC Smurrie for a change....
We really had a great day, super organisation at the DGR, want to thank everyone for their presence and enthusiasm.
We have been infected with the virus, the magic of this ride. We are already looking forward to the next edition and hope you will be there. Were you not there this year?
Then come next year, we highly recommend it! Great group of like-minded and super atmosphere.
Greetings,
