For motorcycle enthusiasts looking to manage heat effectively, exhaust wrap offers a budget-friendly solution. Often coated with fiberglass, this specialized tape is designed to insulate and contain heat within the exhaust system. It may improve the performance of your bike, but it also helps prevent burns on your ankles and feet by reducing exposure to hot exhaust pipes. Whether you're focused on safety or the aesthetic of your bike, an exhaust wrap is an ideal choice to keep things cool and running smoothly!
When you choose to make a purchase for your motorcycle in our webshop, you enjoy 4 combined benefits that set us apart:
Applying an exhaust wrap is quite simple but requires patience and attention to detail. Take your time and work carefully to ensure a good fit. The tighter the wrap, the better the insulation and the lower the risk of an uneven or loose fit. It’s essential to wear safety gear during the process, including safety glasses, gloves, a dust mask, and a long-sleeved shirt to protect against irritation caused by fiberglass dust.
To make the installation easier, make sure you have enough wrap to begin with. Then, to reduce fiberglass dust irritation, soak the exhaust wrap in a bucket of water before starting. Wetting the band makes it more flexible, allowing for a tighter wrap. You will need stainless steel zip ties, iron wire, or hose clamps to secure the wrap in place. We highly recommend purchasing extra zip ties and checking whether they work or not beforehand.

Choosing the right product for your motorcycle can sometimes be a challenge. The installing process can sometimes cause problems or not work right away. Therefore we have answered the most questions from our customers on this subject. You will find all the information you need here.
Start by wrapping the primary tube near the exhaust port (the part closest to the engine) and secure it with a stainless steel band, wire, or hose clamp. Continue wrapping with a 1/4-inch overlap on each layer, keeping consistent tension as you go. Every two to three wraps, tighten the tape by hand. Overlapping the tape by 1/4 inch is ideal for releasing just the right amount of heat, optimizing performance without damaging the exhaust system.
If the primary tubes are too close together to wrap individually, wrap them together, maintaining the same 1/4-inch overlap. After reaching the collector, secure the ends with stainless steel ties or hose clamps. Once the wrap is applied, you may notice the exhaust pipes smoking during the initial rides, which is part of the curing process and will stop over time. This is perfectly normal and won't harm the exhaust system or the wrap. Be sure to run the bike in a well-ventilated area during this phase.

Exhaust wraps are available in various materials, including woven ceramic, fiberglass with a special coating, and titanium. Fiberglass wraps are typically made from basalt or treated fiberglass, which increases the wrap’s thermal resistance. Fiberglass and ceramic wraps can withstand temperatures up 648° C/1200° F. Titanium wraps, which are more expensive, can handle heat up to 982°C/1800°F, though they should not be confused with titanium-colored wraps.
In addition to different materials, exhaust wraps also come in many colors, including black, sand, anthracite, titanium, white, and red.
Exhaust wraps done wrong can become loose and pose a dangerous risk of getting caught in the motorcycle’s chain or rear wheel. Always ensure that the wrap is tightly secured to avoid this. Even if the wrap doesn’t unravel, a loose fit will impact its effectiveness as a thermal barrier.
Engine fluids like oils and cleaners can also negatively impact the lifespan of the wrap. While exhaust wraps are durable and can last for years, exposure to friction or harsh chemicals can degrade them. Common fluids such as engine oil and degreasers are particularly harmful.
Another common issue is color fading due to excessive heat. If your exhaust pipes get too hot, it may indicate improper engine tuning, potentially caused by excessive airflow. Also worth noting that some wraps are more vulnerable to losing their color than others. The titanium wrap we have will hold its color best whereas the red and white one can fade a lot quicker.
