Having the right kind of lighting for your motorcycle is important for your safety, visibility and communication on the road. While secondary to safety, lighting can be used to personalize your bike to make it more old school, modern or anything in between.
We have all kinds of lighting to offer for various price ranges. Find the right lights for your motorcycle at Cafe Racer Webshop!
By law, it is mandatory to have your headlights on at all times while riding on public roads. Most motorcycles do this automatically when the ignition is turned on and the engine is running, so you probably don’t have to worry. But a well-functioning headlight is essential in low-light conditions, for better visibility of your surroundings as well as for oncoming traffic. That’s why most of the headlights we offer are universal, and are compatible with any bike. Your safety as a rider is of most importance so always invest in good lighting!
Rear lights are automatically used in combination with the headlights of your motorcycle as it is mandatory by law. A motorcycle needs at least one tail light, but you can choose to have two. If you choose the latter, then the placement of the two lights is important as they need to be mounted:
In darkness and poor visibility, the rear light of the motorcycle must be red for other drivers to know that you are driving away from them, rather than towards them.
The rear brake lights are usually integrated into the tail lights, and should turn on immediately when the brakes are being used and turned off when the brakes are released. It is important to mount your brake light in a central position, so that other drivers on the road can see when you are slowing down/braking so they can act accordingly. At Cafe Racer Webshop we have plenty of cool rear brake lights available, including our LED brake light strip, which can give your cafe racer a minimalistic look!
Planning to buy smoked tail lights or smoke them yourself? As long as you ensure they are legal then you are good to go! Legal smoked rear lights require bright light bulbs, so the light is visible to road users behind you. Besides that, it is not allowed to tint them more than 50% or to paint them in another color other than red.
To ensure the light is bright enough, LED-bulbs are usually the way forward as they are brighter than Halogen lights.
There are several rules to take into account when it comes to your motorcycle signals. The indicators on motorbikes must emit an amber yellow light and a flashing light with at least two in the front and two in the back. All our lights, including our smoke indicators, have an E-quality certification. This means they comply with the rules on lighting for motor vehicles in the EU. You can find plenty of options in our collection with a peace of mind.
Most motorcycles today are fitted with LED lights. Their small size and bright light means they take up less space, which is ideal for your cafe racer. The best of all, no energy is lost in the form of heat and can have a life span of 25,000 hours!
With LED turn signals and halogen there is a difference in resistance between the two. You can solve this problem by adding a resistor or by replacing the flash relay. Take a look at our product range to find the best fit for you!
Despite the advantages of using LED lights on your bike, the traditional Halogen blinkers fit better if you want to give your cafe racer a retro, old-school look. They often cost less and are easier to mount without the resistor or replacing the relay.
There are different ways to install blinkers on your bike, with the help of our trusty headlight brackets / lamp holders. To achieve a minimalistic look, one can go for integrated blinkers in your mirrors, as the front turn signals are subtly incorporated into the frame of the mirror. Another option is the handlebar turn signal / bar end blinkers that can be installed without mirrors. They are installed at the end of your handlebar, and are available in different shapes and sizes in our assortment of universal direction indicators.
For those that want to take an extra precaution, we offer extra warning lights suitable for any motor vehicle. It is possible to DIY and customize the indicators to fit your riding style as they are easy to mount on almost any location on your bike.
We offer a wide range of lights for different purposes, including plate lighting, miscellaneous lights and light bulbs. With this, we also have everything you need to mount the lights – from cables, wires, holders and extra accessories.
