BMW R100

The absolute highlight of the BMW Motorrad /7 series was the BMW R100 and especially the BMW R100 RS version. This one had no predecessor and was the first in the world to be delivered fully with streamlined fairing. With the arrival of the BMW R100 RT, BMW also had another new first, namely the first engine with streamlined fairing and an adjustable windshield.

Due to changing environmental requirements and the arrival of the BMW K-series, it initially seemed that the end was near for the BMW R-series with its air-cooled two cyliner boxer engines, but at the insistence of customers and dealers, the 'old' boxer models in the shape of the BMW R100R came back with a revised boxer engine.
