Choosing the right product for your motorcycle can sometimes be a challenge. The mounting process can sometimes cause problems or not work right away. Therefore we have answered the most questions from our customers on this subject. You will find all the information you need here.
First, the diode can burn out and cause the battery to drain. You’ll notice right away with poor starts, irregular meter readings, dead battery and dimmed headlights. If you catch these issues early on , you can replace the part for an affordable price and potentially avoid full battery failure down the road.
In most motorcycles, the regulator and rectifier are located in the same unit, but older models have them installed separately. To check the regulator, connect the meter leads to the bike’s battery while its running. The reading should not be more than 14.5 volts or lower than 13.5 volts. If the reading is higher, this means that the battery is overcharged and you may need to replace it.
Also depending where your regulator / rectifier is located on your bike, the part can overheat, which can lead to failure.
